Backup Actions

Some objects support importing and exporting using a .csv file. This will be indicated by a backup section in the dropdown menu with a subheading labelled Backup.

Exporting Objects

When exporting an object, you are given the option to export all items or export only the items you choose.

Export All Items

When exporting all items, select the option from the list view’s dropdown menu and a .csv file will be immediately downloaded as an attachment.

Exporting Certain Items

When choosing to export certain items, select the Export Items option from the list view’s dropdown menu where the word “Item” will be replaced with that object type. You will be presented a list of objects like shown in the image below. Use the checkboxes to select the objects to export, and then press confirm to download the .csv file.

Working within an exported .csv file

Once you have an export file. You can edit it using any standard .csv editor (Such as Excel). The header row contains all fields related to the object. For enumerated fields, please refer to the objects parameter guide.

Importing Objects

From the dropdown menu, select Import Items to access the object’s import page. You will be prompted to select a .csv file to import. Selecting upload will start the import validation process. This will not finalize the import!

Caution

This is useful for bulk editing fields but it can be very risky to do on a live system! Ensure you are only modifying intended fields.

Successful Import Validation

After selecting upload, you will be sent to an import validation page. Upon a successful validation, you will see the below message.

Pressing confirm will finalize the import in the database and all changes will become actively immediately.

Preview Changes

If you would like to verify the changes that will occur, click the link that says click here to view a preview. This will show a row and column style view that will highlight any changes to fields. In the below example, the name of the device has been chnaged from “OPC-UA Server #2” to “OPC-UA Server #3” as indicated by the strikethrough and highlighted text.

Failed Import Validation

On a failed validation, you will be given two possible ways to troubleshoot the error. As shown below, you may receive Row Validation Errors which can be expanded by clicking on each row to reveal a bulleted list of parameters and their errors.
